Widget Selects Holiday Inn in Steamboat Springs for Cog Rally

Special Rates Available to Fans and Competitors

[Holiday Inn logo] Steamboat Springs, CO. Thanks to the efforts of Widget Team Manager Denise McMahon and the generosity of General Manager Barbara Robinson, Holiday Inn Steamboat Springs has been selected as headquarters for the Widget Rally Team when they tackle the Colorado Cog Rally on Sept 24th to 26th, 2004. Additionally, the hotel, known as "the Perfect Family Resort for all seasons," will offer special discounts to the team's race fans. To take advantage of the lower rates, simply call the hotel toll-free at 800.654.3944 and ask for "the Widget Rally Team rate."

"This is the first time we've been to Steamboat Springs," said team driver Leon Styles. "We're looking forward to the hospitality for which the region is famous. In our pre-race preparations everyone at the Holiday Inn has been friendly and helpful, so we're sure we'll have an enjoyable visit."

The Widget Rally Team currently leads the national Open class championship of the Sports Car Club of America's ProRally Series Presented by Hot Wheels. Colorado Cog is the eighth round of the nine-race championship so the team will push hard for the overall victory. "We're going to pull out all the stops on this one," said codriver John Dillon. "Leon drove his heart out the last time we were in Colorado, back in June when we won the Pike's Peak Hill Climb and Rally. He's going to tackle Cog with the same level of commitment this weekend." With a bit of luck the team could clinch the class championship with one race to go.

About the Sport
Rallying is the ultimate team motorsport where street-licensed cars are raced at high speed on dirt trails with two people in the car, a driver behind the wheel and a codriver describing every bend in the road. Competitors are not allowed to pre-run the roads so they are racing "blind," navigating from a route book provided just hours prior to the event. Cars can easily reach speeds above 100 MPH as they snake between trees and along the edges of cliffs in this sport of strength and stamina.

About the Team
The Widget Rally Team, that "serious team with a whimsical name," is supported by Perforce Software (www.perforce.com), makers of high performance software for computer professionals; 7-24 AirX; Worr Games (www.worr.com), manufacturers of tournament-quality paintball guns; and Tombstone Paintball Park. The team insists on brakes by Porterfield Enterprises (www.porterfield-brakes.com) and utilizes the web services of Shults Dot Com (www.shults.com) for its internet needs. Satellite phones are provided by WCC Global Satellite Communications (www.wcclp.com).
