The team's principal driver, Leon Styles, added "We're happy that our whole crew can stay in a place as nice as the Alpine Lodge. Since we're running a two-car team this year, logistics are much more critical to our success. The staff at the Best Western just made things a little easier for us. We've already begun promoting the hotel to other rallyists, many of which, like us, will travel a long way to race at the Sno*Drift rally." The Widget team is based in southern California.
Julie Kettlewell, Sales & Marketing Director for the BW Alpine Lodge, recognized the value of promoting their hotel through racing. "This is the first time we have sponsored a racing team, and we are pleased to be affiliated with the Widget Rally Team. Racing has become such a large spectator sport in recent years, and we certainly look forward to being a part of it all," remarked Kettlewell. "It is my understanding that the Widget team has received a good deal of press of late, and we hope to see Widget in the forefront on a regular basis. We are happy to welcome them to Gaylord and the Best Western Alpine Lodge, and will be sure they receive the hometown hospitality for which this town and this property are so well known."
The Sno*Drift ProRally is the first in the 2004 national championship series sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America. The Widget Rally Team plans to compete in the entire 2004 ProRally series as well as in other selected events.
The Best Western Alpine Lodge is a first-class, AAA-rated hotel located in Gaylord and has recently completed an extensive renovation. This full service hotel features a restaurant, lounge, an indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna, exercise room and a game room that features virtual golf. The hotel is located within walking distance of the downtown shops and is a short drive to larger retail stores, ski slopes, golf courses, lakes, rivers and forests.
Perforce Software (www.perforce.com) provides financial support to the Widget Rally Team. The team is also supported by 7-24 AirX, a domestic and international trucking and air cargo company; Tombstone Paintball Park; and Worr Games (www.worr.com), manufacturers of tournament-quality paintball guns. The team insists on brakes by Porterfield Enterprises (www.porterfield-brakes.com) and utilizes the web services of Shults Dot Com (www.shults.com) for its internet needs.
